WPPI - Las Vegas!

I made it to Vegas and we have had an amazing day, which isn't over yet! Vegas is full of fun things to see just walking around, but we have barely had a chance to see anything because our first day at WPPI was so packed!

The volcano in front of The Mirage...

Connecticut dominated at the Pictage lounge - go CT PUG!

We love to tease Steve DePino about his resemblance to David Jay who we got to chat with today :)

Here is a photo of them together.... Steve is on the left and David on the right in both ;)

Matt and Teresa Wagner oogling David Hasselhoff...

Fun in a photo booth! From left: Steve, Amanda, me and Carla

I'm off to watch a photo shootout, but I'll post more soon hopefully when I get a chance!

Christina and Michael

I just got back from an awesome wedding at Mohegan Sun! I only had a few moments to look through all the photos because I'm leaving for WPPI in Vegas in just a few hours, but I pulled out some of my favorites and here they are!

ps - if you look closely (you may have to click on them) you can actually see me taking the picture in one of the photos! :)

I'm just finishing up preparing not only for a fun wedding Saturday at Mohegan Sun, but also going to Las Vegas for WPPI the next morning! This wedding should be fun because there are lots of interesting backdrops to work with at the casino hotel lobby area - I posted a photo below that I took the other day when I was scouting out cool places to shoot.

Being in a casino just makes me all the more excited for Vegas this coming week!

Dust-Aid

Cool new sensor cleaner! I just got the message below in an email from Dust-Aid which I had heard about from Kevin Kubota!

For a limited time Dust-Aid is available to be purchased from our website. We only have a small quantity available but we are busy at work trying to meet the demand.

It looks like it will be really cool - and easy! Check out the instructional video HERE!
So I saw another photographer getting into photo puzzles by JigZone, so I thought it might be fun to try out... enjoy!

St. Patty's fun!

My Irish Name Is...

Fiona Fitzgerald
Looking at the snow outside, this silly quote made me laugh:

"Traffic is very heavy at the moment, so if you are thinking of leaving now, you'd better set off a few minutes earlier."
Anonymous Traffic Report

I was looking forward to taking some fun photographs at the St. Patty's Parade in Hartford tomorrow - but the snow has rescheduled it for next Saturday. It's cool that they are still having it, but I'll be shooting a wedding that day!

Ode to the wedding photographer

It constantly amazes me how much more there is to wedding photography than photography itself! We are not just photographers anymore, but graphic designers, web designers, photoshop experts, marketing and advertising departments, and I suspect many of us are accountants as well. It truly is a unique and varied field which I'm thankful to be a part of.

These thoughts are of course inspired by the stack of albums I am designing, and it really is a very different world than when I am behind the camera. Thankfully I really love album design - which makes up for all the long hours at the computer!

Here are a bunch of pages from the current coffee table book I'm working on (you can click to make them bigger) - enjoy!

The Wedding Bells

To everyone involved in weddings, which is probably most of you visiting here, there is a new series starting on Fox this Wednesday night after American Idol that looks like it could be pretty amusing!

Personally the parts with the photographer entertain me the most (be patient - it is towards the end) :)

Image placed in top twenty in WPJA contest!

I was really excited to see that one of my images placed in the top twenty in the Winter 2006 Contest of the WPJA! I'm posting the image below, but you can also view it by visiting the latest contest winners and selecting the First Dance category.

JUDGES COMMENTS: I was taken by the crafty use of front and back lighting, and the way the photographer played with their reflected image in the back. The composition is strong and the moment sweet between the couple. I would have liked if the reflected image behind them was better separated from the actual couple.

Although I missed getting a medallion this time around (you had to place in the top ten) I was flattered to be noticed by the judges and look forward to entering more images in the future!
This post is a little belated - but I just wanted to say hi to all my fellow PUGers! I've visited a few of your sites and stopped by a few blogs and look forward to stopping by more in the future! It has been so much fun to get together with such a talented group of fellow photographers, and I'm glad that we have such a wonderful outlet to share our ideas and experiences.

For my non photographer visitors, PUG stands for Pictage User Group, and is a meeting for all of us using the PICtage online ordering system. Pictage is such a great way for guests from the wedding to be able to log in and order photos, and has made printing photos so much easier and efficient. They also offer so many fun options like fine art cards and coffee table books!

Photo featured in Wedding Bells Magazine!

A photo of cake I took at a wedding this past year was recently featured in the magazine Wedding Bells, part of the publication American Republican out of Waterbury, CT. The article was about Ana Parzych who is amazing at creating beautiful custom cakes where all the flowers and decorations are made out of sugar and icing. Congratulations Ana, your work is amazing! A photographer friend of mine, Steve DePino is also featured in the article. Way to go!
